The communal violence in Delhi gave rise to several fake forwards. A clip of police lathi-charging a large crowd of Muslims has been shared by many. “Cleaning drive has been started in Delhi,” wrote Rahul Awasthi, who identifies himself as social media in-charge of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), while sharing the clip online.

AltNews reverse-searched the frames, which redirected it to two-month old web-links, which clearly means that the footage could not have been from the Delhi riots. the lathi-charge was in fact, during protests against the CAA in Bulandshahr, UP.
