Woman SI lodges dowry harassment plaint against hubby

TIRUCHY: The All-Women Police in Thanjavur on Wednesday registered a case against the husband of a woman sub-inspector (SI) after she lodged a complaint of dowry harassment against him.

Sources said that P Sasirekha (33), sub-inspector with Thanjavur All-Women Police station was married to Pugazh Vendhan (36), a medical representative. The couple has two children. It is said that Pugazh Vendhan was continuously insisting Sasirekha to bring jewels and cash from her parents. As Sasirekha did not yield to his demands, Pugazh Vendhan had tortured her several times.

Unable to bear the non-stop torture, Sasirekha lodged a complaint at the All-Women Police station in Thanjavur. Acting on the complaint, the police on Wednesday registered a case against Pugazh Vendhan. Further investigations are on.
