The government’s 108 ambulance control room had received a message at 7.20 am requesting the services of their ambulance to shift a pregnant woman to hospital at 7.20 am on Wednesday.

Responding to the request, driver M Saravanan and emergency medical technician (EMT) Vidhya took M Sathya (24) on board from Sathya nagar at Katpadi. While they were on their way to the Vellore government medical college hospital, the patient underwent labour pain. Soon, she was assisted

by EMT Vidhya, with whose help, the woman delivered twin girls in the vehicle at 8.02 am.

Thereafter, both the infants and the mother were safely taken to the hospital and admitted there. All of them were doing well, said sources. Moreover, Sathya was already the mother of twin

boys, official sources revealed. Sources from 108 ambulance services revealed that this was the first time that twins were born in their vehicle. “Earlier, we had experience of delivering single babies only,” they added.
