Police said the body of Akbar (31), a middleman involved in cattle trade, was found on the national highway near Vannivedu on September 7. Thereafter, a murder case was registered based on a complaint from his wife Rihana Begum (27), who alleged that her husband’s death was not due to natural causes.

Meanwhile, Vivek (23), son of Raja of Pagavalli village, came to the office of VAO Sathyamoorthy and admitted that he and his friends had strangled Akbar to death on September 7. The VAO after recording Vivek’s statement handed him over to the police.

Investigation revealed that Rihana Begum had an extra-marital affair with Vivek’s friend Khalid Ahamed. Akbar had warned his wife to abandon the relationship.

Infuriated by Akbar’s objection, Rihana and Khalid hatched a plot to kill him.

Thereafter, Khalid approached his friends, Vivek, Satish, Kirubakaran, Loganathan, Raji and Chinnakutti and told them that Akbar should be killed as he was torturing Rihana.

The friends agreed to Khalid’s plan and strangled Akbar to death.

Following this, police arrested Vivek, Satish and Loganathan along with Rihana and a search is on for the other three in this connection.
