VOC Port handles longest wind blade

V O Chidambaranar Port handled a wind blade of length 72.40 metres, the longest of its kind made in India.

The German flagged heavy lift vessel ‘M V Maria’ with overall length of 151.67 metres and draft of 8.50 metres was anchored at VOC-II berth at 1.24 pm on May 26 for loading the wind blade. According to a statement issued by the port on Wednesday, the loading of the wind blade was executed diligently using hydraulic cranes. The shipper of the wind blade is Nordex India private limited, Tiruvallur, and the cargo was despatched to Nordex Energy GMBH, Germany, to Port of Antwerp, Belgium. The stevedore and ship agent for the above vessel is Aspinwall and Co. Ltd., Thoothukudi.
