The Krishnagiri town police resorted to lathicharge to bring the violent mob under control and nearly 30 persons were arrested in connection with the violence. The fans of the popular actor were anxiously waiting to see the new movie and got restless over the delay in screening the film and took to violence near a theatre at the Roundana area.

The mob smashed signals with stones, set fire to banners, damaged barricades in the middle of the road and even pulled down a public water tank.

Similarly, violent scenes were witnessed near a theatre on Bangalore Road and another on Old Pettai Road in the district. In both the road stretches, broken glasses, stones and burnt remains of banners were found.

On receiving information, the police arrived and resorted to lathi charge in all the three spots.

With the help of CCTV recordings, the Krishnagiri town police nabbed nearly 30 persons, including two Vijay fans youth wing functionaries Aravindan, 19 and Tamilarasu, 25. A search is on for others who are on the run.

After the ruckus subsided, the film was screened in three theatres in Krishnagiri district with heavy police presence at 7am.
