Kirudhanya, daughter of Vedha Vinod, who has been working in a private bank in Chennai, had fever for the past couple of days and so the baby was rushed to a private hospital. As the baby had tested positive for dengue, she was rushed to the Thanjavur Medical College Hospital two days back and was under the treatment at the GH.

However, Kirudhanya died despite treatment at the GH late on Thursday. The health officials visited the place where the baby belonged and conducted an enquiry. The health staff also administered fogging in the entire place.

Meanwhile, the district administration has passed on the information through the health department that the public should approach the government hospitals for treatment. The District Collector also assured the people not to bepanic.
