At present, there are eight direct flights to Chennai, two flights to Hyderabad and one to Bengaluru daily from Madurai. In addition to direct flights there are two other flight services to New Delhi and Mumbai via Chennai. In total, there are 16 existing flights from Madurai including three international flights.

There are four existing service providers, Jet Airways, Air India, Air Carnival and Sri Lankan Airlines. Apart from these, Indigo is set to commence its service from March. The official claimed that two new fights will be operated to New Delhi, one via Chennai and the other via Mumbai, from March. While Indigo will be launching a new flight service from Madurai to New Delhi via Chennai in the first week of March, Jet Airways will be providing an additional service to New Delhi via Mumbai from March 26. A Jet Airways official said that the new Boeing flight will have 72 seats. As there was a demand for flight services to Mumbai and Delhi from Madurai the company had provided an additional connecting flight.
