The heat wave is likely to remain active in isolated areas till Friday, with heavy rain warning issued in isolated places in the next 24 hours. After the maximum temperatures dropped to 39 degrees Celsius on Sunday, RMC stated that a further drop in temperature is expected in Chennai due to sea breeze.
On Monday, the two weather stations in Nungambakkam and Meenambakkam recorded a maximum temperature of 36.6 degrees Celsius and 39.2 degrees Celsius respectively. The minimum temperatures remained at 28.6 degrees Celsius and 27.6 degrees Celsius.
Until Wednesday, the city is likely to be generally cloudy with maximum and minimum temperatures around 37 degrees Celsius and 29 degrees Celsius. Other parts of the State, including Namakkal, Kanyakumari and Nilgiris, received about 3-2 cm of rainfall on Monday.
RMC stated that light to moderate rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Tamil Nadu, including Salem, Dharmapuri, Namakkal, Karur, Madurai, Theni, Dindigul, Tiruppur, Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Virudhunagar and Tirunelveli districts.
