Tahsildar held for taking bribe

The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti Corruption (DVAC) arrested a Tahsildar in Coimbatore on Friday for receiving a bribe of Rs 25,000 to provide a solvency certificate.

The complainant had approached Kokilamani, Tahsildar North, Coimbatore district, for a solvency certificate for his property. As the official demanded a bribe to process the application, the complainant tipped the DVAC sleuths, who set a trap and arrested the Tahsildar red-handed.
