Sub-registrar office raided in Salem

The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) sleuths on Wednesday seized unaccounted cash to the tune of Rs 92,000 following a raid at the sub-registrar office in Salem district.

 The search, which commenced at the sub-registrar’s office in Ayodhyapattinam on Tuesday evening around 6 pm extended for over ten hours, till the wee hours on Wednesday morning, sources said. DVAC officials led by ADSP Chandramouli questioned sub-registrar Dhanasekaran and the staff in the office.


The office was kept locked during the search operation to prevent the exit of staff or the entry of strangers.


Following the hours-long search, the police seized incriminating documents from the office. Inquiries are on to find out if the cash seized by DVAC sleuths was received as bribe by the staff. Further investigations are on.
