73-year old from Thoothukudi has died due to coronavirus as the toll in Tamil Nadu increases to 9.

77 people have been affected due to this virus in the state on Friday, and 44 people have recovered and returned home.

The tally of new cases in Tamil Nadu saw Coimbatore topping Chennai today. Coimbatore saw 26 new cases followed by Chengalpet which recorded 12 new positive cases. 

Whereas the capital city saw 9 cases and so did Ranipet with Dindugal adding 8 to its tally, on Friday.

As a breather, the Cauvery riparian districts saw zero fresh cases along with other major tier-2 cities like Madurai,Tirunelveli and Tirupur.

The total number of coronavirus positive cases in Tamil Nadu stands at 911. The cases in Chennai is 172, Coimbatore 86, Tirunelveli 56, Erode 60, Trichy 36, Chengalpattu and Theni 40, Madurai 25 and scores in many other districts.
