On the implementation of 10 per cent reservation for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS), the Chief Minister informed the House that a decision would be taken only after consultations with the political party leaders and legislators.

Replying to a query from DMK member R Siva, on the notification issued by Health Secretary in respect of providing 10 per cent reservation to EWS in medical admission, the Chief Minister said the reservation for EWS is yet to be implemented in Puducherry andTamil Nadu. Earlier, several members, including Siva, charged that the government has issued the notification in a haste without consulting anybody. They stressed that an all-party meeting be convened on the issue and a panel formed.

The House also unanimously adopted resolutions urging the Centre to exempt Puducherry from NEET and NEXT and follow a three language policy in Puducherry and Tamil Nadu.

The Assembly unanimously adopted a resolution urging the Centre not to implement the hydrocarbon project in Puducherry and adjoining areas. The Opposition staged a walk out during the debate as AIADMK legislature party leader A Anbazhagan’s comments on DMK president MK Stalin were expunged by the Speaker.

Later, the Assembly was adjourned sine die after a two-day special session. The budget session is likely in August first week.
