Saree shop opened in Madurai as part of ‘One Station One Product’ scheme

A leading textile shop to sell ‘weaved sungudi sarees’ opened an outlet at Madurai railway station on Saturday under “One Station One Product” scheme.

MADURAI: A leading textile shop to sell ‘weaved sungudi sarees’ opened an outlet at Madurai railway station on Saturday under “One Station One Product” scheme. Additional Divisional Railway Manager Thanneeru Ramesh Babu along with Senior Divisional Commercial Manager V Prasanna and Assistant Commercial Manager KV Pramod Kumar felicitated the sales by lighting Kuthuvilakku. The sale will be available for another 15 days. This sale would mostly attract women passengers as sungudi sarees are meant for summer season, a statement said. This short duration second phase exhibition cum sale is mooted by Railway board to receive feedback and suggestions on this scheme. In the first phase of this scheme, a handloom exhibition cum sale was organised at Madurai junction during the third week of August 2021.
