Speaking to the reporters at Mannargudi, Pandian said, in order to address the complains of wide range of corruption in the DPCs the State government had introduced e-procurement process through which the DPCs are entitled to procure 1,000 bags of paddy per day and a target of 10,000 MT ton procurement was planned.

In such backdrop, the farmers undertake the mechanized harvest system through which at least 2,000 bags are harvested per day. Though the DPCs are asked to procure 1,000 bags per day, the practical difficulty has made the DPCs procure only 500 bags. Hence, the farmers are worried about the excess quantity of paddy accumulated in the DPCs that may go waste. Hence, he appealed to the State to withdraw the e-procurement process until the practical difficulties are rectified. Till then, the State should instruct the DPCs to follow the manual process, PR Pandianappealed.
