RS poll nominations close on June 9, ‘contest’ on June 19

In the event of the election being contested, the poll would be taken on June 19.

CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly secretariat has invited applications for the June 19 biennial RS polls to be held for electing six members.

In a notification, B Subramaniyam, returning officer/additional secretary of TNLA, has advised eligible candidates to deliver their nomination papers in person or through their proposers to him or one K Ramesh, assistant returning officer and joint secretary of TNLA secretariat at the Legislative Assembly secretariat between 11 am and 3 pm on any day (except June 7 and 8) and not later than June 9.

The nomination papers would be taken for scrutiny at the office of the Additional Secretary, TNLA Secretariat, at 11 am on June 10.

Notice of withdrawal of candidature could be delivered either by the candidate or through any of his proposers or by his election agent authorised in writing by the candidate before 3 pm on June 12.

In the event of the election being contested, the poll would be taken on June 19.
