Road, water for Nekkinamalai soon: Commercial Taxes Minister KC Veeramani

Commercial Taxes Minister KC Veeramani announced that Nekkinamalai tribal village situated at a height of 1,000 metres and 7 km from Ambur in Tirupattur district would soon get road and drinking water.

On Thursday, the Minister along with Collector MP Sivan Arul and SP P Vijayakumar trekked to the hamlet to distribute COVID-19 lockdown welfare assistance.

He said a proposal for a road estimated at Rs 3.40 crore in 2013 was held up due to Centre, state frictions then. “Now that the state government has cordial relations with the Centre, procedures for the project will he expedited,” he added.

Recalling his own experience in climbing the hill to reach the village, the Minister said he understood the plight of villagers who had to send their children to Ambur for school after Class 5 as the hill had only an elementary school. He also added that arrangements for provision of drinking water would be completed before the officials left the spot after the function.
