Rise in coronavirus cases in Theni, Tirunelveli, Madurai, Vellore

Four districts in Tamil Nadu recorded increase in COVID-19 infections in the last 12 hours.

295 cases piled up in Madurai on Monday with total tally reaching 4,380 while Tirunelveli recorded 95 fresh ones leading to 1,125 cases. Vellore witnessed 166 positive cases amounting to 2,126 infections across the district.

110 people including two doctors tested positive for COVID-19 in Theni. Of 1,167 cases in the district, 385 have been discharged and 810 are currently seeking treatment.

The state health ministry also shut down 4 private testing centres in Coimbatore following reports of discrepancies in COVID-19 treatment.
