Puducherry Governor passes the buck on privatisation of power supply

Puducherry Governor Kiran Bedi tacitly pushed the file to central government that  represented the Puducherry government's resolution to pull back the privatisation of power supply.

The file was officially presented by CM Narayanasamy and Electricity minister Kamalakannan.

Ruling and opposition parties outcried the privatisation of power supply in unison and also passed a resolution against this step by the central government.

Also the EB staffs staged protests against central government policy. This was a reaction to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman calling for privatisation.

Puducherry government made their case stating that their administration is faring better than other states. It completely rejects handing over state-owned Rs 12,000 crores worth assets to private players.
