“All the excavations currently being carried out in Keezhadi, Pattaraiperumbudur, Azhakankulam and so on will be integrated and a combined history of the state will be evolved,” said Pandiarajan, while participating in a function at Thiruninravur in Tiruvallur district.

He also said that the integrated Tamil culture would be the base for Indian culture. After the release of the report of the fourth phase of the excavation carried out in Keezhadi archaeological site, there were many discussions around other archaeological excavations as the history of the state had been pushed back to 2,600 years.

Following the report, there were demands from various quarters to continue the excavation in other sites where it was discontinued.

The minister also clarified that the state has only nine archaeologists and efforts are being taken to increase their strength.

Seeman asks Modi to makeTamil nation’s official language

Naam Tamilar Katchi leader Seeman on Wednesday demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi to declare Tamil as one of the official languages of the country. “If Modi is really interested in the development of Tamil, he should take efforts to make Tamil as one of the official languages in the country. Speaking merely in Tamil will not result in the development of the language,” said Seeman here. Of late, Modi has been speaking and quoting Tamil in various functions and the famous one was in the United Nations, where he quoted the words of Kaniyan Poonkundranar ‘Yaadhum Oore Yavarum Kelir’. He also spoke high of Tamil and the hospitality of Tamil people in the function held at IIT-Madras. Modi’s ‘new love’ for Tamil has sparked various debates as Opposition parties criticised Modi for his Tamil speeches. He asked Modi what is stopping him from making Tamil as one of the official languages of the country. “You (Modi) have accepted that Tamil as the oldest language in the world. When Singapore has three official languages and Swiss has 11 official languages, why can’t a big country like India have Tamil as an additional official language,” Seeman asked.
