Chennai: Justice AD Jagadish Chandira quashed the cases after hearing the criminal original petitions filed by the Minister, who sought direction to set aside the FIRs filed against him.

“The protest was conducted for the sake of public welfare in 2020. However, the police filed the cases due to political reasons. We have not violated any protocol,” Senthilbalaji’s counsel submitted. The police submitted that he violated the lockdown protocol and took part in an unlawful protest.

Recording the submissions, the judge quashed the cases against Senthilbalaji.

The Karur district police had booked Senthilbalaji for protesting against the Union government demanding the withdrawal of the farm laws enacted by the Centre. Another protest was conducted against the State government seeking the withdrawal of cases filed against DMK cadre. Based on a complaint of the VAO, the police had filed the cases.
