Nomination process opens for six Rajya Sabha seats

The Tamil Nadu Public Election Department on Friday started accepting the nominations for the six Rajya Sabha posts that will be vacant by the end of next month.

Three from AIADMK and three from DMK alliance will serve their term till March. On the first day of nomination, two candidates, including K Padamarajan, who unsuccessfully contests in all the elections and another independent N Sri Ramachandran filed their nominations with Assembly secretary K Srinivasan, who is the election officer for the Rajya Sabha polls. Strong lobbying has been going on in the AIADMK camp and the DMK had already announced its candidates for the Upper House. The terms of TN MPs including K Selvaraj, S Muthu Karuppan, Vijila Satyanand, Tiruchi N Siva, Sasikala Pushpa and TK Rangarajan will expire by next month.
