CHENNAI: Racer Alisha Abdullah, who served as State secretary of the BJP’s sports and skill development cell, alleged that minorities were denied representation in the appointment of office-bearers to various wings of the BJP in Tamil Nadu.

Her remarks came after State unit president Nainar Nagenthran’s son Nainar Balaji was named organiser of the sports and skill development unit, alongside JM Arthik from Chennai.

Expressing disappointment, Abdullah said the list released on September 4 did not include a single Muslim or Christian. She recalled joining the BJP inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former State president K Annamalai, whose vision she described as “no religion, no caste and pure hard work”.

“It is very disheartening… I have worked three years, day and night, for this party,” she wrote on X. “This proves Muslims have no place. Out of 28 presidents, there are no Christians or Muslims.” She also accused the party’s general secretary (organisation), Kesavan Vinayagam, of “insulting” her.

Speaking to the media at the Chennai airport, Nagenthran said minorities had been given posts in the BJP, and justified his son’s appointment claiming that he was made the organiser based on his earlier role as vice-president of the youth wing.
