Newly-wed couple dies in accident

A newly-wed couple died after their car rammed into a truck coming in the opposite direction on Chennai-Bengaluru National Highway in Krishnagiri district on Friday.

According to police, M Rahman Hammad, 27, from Vellore district and his wife Jihaana, 21, were returning after visiting a relative’s house in Bengaluru, when the incident happened. 


While nearing Chinna Bargur, Rahman who was driving the car, lost control and rammed into the road divider and crossed over to the other side of the NH to hit a container truck coming in the opposite direction towards Bengaluru from Chennai. 


In the impact of the mishap, the woman died on the spot, while Rahman succumbed to injuries while being taken to Krishnagiri Government Hospital. Police said the couple was married just a week ago. The Bargur police have registered a case and further investigation is on.
