According to their lawyer R Pughazhendhi, Nalini had informed the jail officials about her fast but Murugan began his fasting without any notice. Pughazhendhi said that he was yet to be informed about the exact reason for Murugan’s fast.

Some days back, an android mobile phone was found in Murugan’s cell during a surprise inspection while two sim cards and a mobile phone charger were recovered from the same cell after he was moved to another cell.
