Mother-son duo dies one after other in Pernambut villages

A pall of gloom descended on both villages when the news spread of the demise of the mother – son duo within a hour of each other.

VELLORE: A man and his mother died within an hour of each other in a village near Pernambut on Friday. Police said that Sigamani (48) an acute diabetic and resident of Ramabai Nagar near Pernambut, a beedi worker, died around 9 am on Friday. When the news was informed to his mother Periathai (68), who was busy working under the government’s 100 days scheme at nearby Lalapet, she swooned on hearing the news. Those around her tried to revive her, but found that it was to no avail and that she had breathed her last. A pall of gloom descended on both villages when the news spread of the demise of the mother – son duo within a hour of each other.
