MNM to decide poll strategy at Oct 16 meeting

Makkal Needhi Maiam founder president Kamal Haasan would chair the meeting of central governing body and executive council on October 16 to decide on the strategy for the ensuing state Assembly polls.

An official release from the party said that actor-turned-politician would chair his party’s meeting at a hotel in T Nagar to deliberate various issues including to take a decision on how to secure the victory of the party in the 2021 Assembly polls and also to strengthen the party’s financial resources to face the election.

Besides, the meet would also decide on the party’s stand on Kanyakumari Lok Sabha bypoll necessitated by the demise of sitting Congress MP H Vasanthakumar. Later, Haasan tweeted that MNM has approached the Madras High Court to direct the Tamil Nadu government on the need to convene the gram sabha meeting.

R Rangarajan, state secretary of MNM said that the core principles on which the party was formed to give alternate politics and clean governance to the people. “Our leader has reiterated in the past also that it would align with political parties without compromising on its principles and on the overall interest of the people. But the party is gearing up to contest on its own in all the assembly constituencies and any decision on the alliance will be taken by the leader,” he told DT Next.
