Ministers throw guidelines to the wind at party meet

In a brazen disregard of COVID-19 norms announced by the State government, Ministers KC Veeramani and Nilofer Kafeel took part in a meeting on Sunday to introduce new office-bearers of the party without following mandatory rules including wearing masks and maintaining physical distance from one another. Incidentally, Labour Minister Kafeel was infected by the virus and recovered.

The meeting was organised to introduce the AIADMK secretaries of Alangayam Panchayat Union east and west, following the recent bifurcation of the union. The Ministers shared the stage with the new office-bearers and others, none of whom were wearing masks.

Making matters worse, there was a sizeable crowd attending the meeting, all standing side by side without following the norm on maintaining a minimum distance from one another.
