The veteran actor Kamal Haasan's party Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) will not participate in the DMK-led rally against CAA and NRC on December 23.

The Dravidian major made it official that MNM won't participate, as it was widely speculated that the latter would take part in the protests.

Reason cited is Kamal Hassan's travel abroad for his surgery.

Earlier, DMK's Rajya Sabha member RS Bharathi and Poochi Murugan officially met Kamal Haasan and invited him to the DMK-led protests.
