The farm was owned by Ravi (50), a resident of Vettuvanpudur. He had left the cattle inside a shed in his farm. Upon returning on Tuesday morning, Ravi found the goats dead, with one of them half-eaten while others bore deep injuries.

On receiving information, a team of Forest Department personnel rushed to the spot and examined the footprints of the predator. They then confirmed it to be a leopard.

As the news of leopard attack spread, villagers gathered in large numbers. They recalled a similar leopard attack in their locality six months ago, when a few dogs were killed.

The villagers urged the Forest Department to take efforts to prevent the wild animals from straying into their residential neighbourhood.
