Kovai teen gang rape case: 1 more accused arrested

One more accused involved in the gang rape of a 17-year-old girl in a park has been arrested by Coimbatore city police from a hideout on Wednesday.

The accused Karthik, 27 was on the run after committing the heinous crime with his five other accomplices on 26 November. His arrest comes a day after another accused Manikandan, 25 surrendered before the Mahila Court on Tuesday.


Four others Rahul, 21, Prakash, 22, Karthikeyan, 28 and Narayanamoorthy, 30 were already arrested by police on November 28. Police said Karthik has also been booked for assault incidents in Vadavalli police station.


Inquiries are on with him to know if someone else were also involved in the gang rape. The victim was celebrating her birthday in the park with her male friend, when she was gang raped by six men.


The men attacked her friend and chased him away following which they disrobed the minor girl and committed the offence.
