The State police chief specifically asked all police personnel to be watchful of hate crimes which could vitiate the harmonious social fabric. He also noted that fraudsters may find it convenient to lure vulnerable people into corona-related frauds and asked field officers to be vigilant against such crimes.

“After the COVID-19 outbreak, the profile of the police job has changed drastically. The commitment and sincerity exhibited in the execution of the directions of the Government by every single policeman, policewoman and officer have been highly commendable,” the DGP noted.

Asking officers to maintain a good working relationship with public health, hospital, revenue, local body officials and others, Tripathy said there is a need to fight this pandemic akin to a war or a riot or a natural disaster, failing which there will be loss of precious lives.
