Heavy rains lash parts of Tamil Nadu

Several parts of Tamil Nadu received light to moderate rainfall on Monday night, which is likely to intensify to heavy rainfall in some places for the next 48 hours.

CHENNAI: Heavy rains lashed Chennai suburban areas, including a few areas in the city, on Tuesday.

Several parts of Tamil Nadu received light to moderate rainfall on Monday night, which is likely to intensify to heavy rainfall in some places for the next 48 hours.

With the movement of westerly winds and cyclonic circulation formed near the coastal regions, Chennai is also expected to receive light showers and the sky condition is likely to be partly cloudy. Thunderstorm with light to moderate rain is likely to occur in some areas.

Due to heavy rains for the past 3 days in the surrounding areas of Natham village in Dindigul district, roads have been flooded.

The surrounding areas of Madathukulam in Tirupur district were washed away by heavy rain for more than 2 hours.

Due to heavy rains, normal life of the people was affected due to power outages at various places. Areas like Periyakulam, Uthamapalayam, Cumbum and other areas of Theni district, witnessed flood like situation.
