Accordingly, applications of all teachers, who seek transfer to other districts or availing mutual transfers should be submitted through online.

The School Education Department’s decision to conduct the process through online was taken in the wake of series of complaints alleging several irregularities and malpractice in the manual transfer system.

The government will have a separate provision under the Tamil Nadu Educational Management System, which was created to store data of teachers and students.

A senior official from the Directorate of School Education told DT Next that teachers themselves could apply online and transfers would be done in a transparent manner.

“Teachers will also have the option to look into the vacancies available in all the districts and they can also view category-wise vacancy,” he added.

He said in addition, teachers could go through the instruction module before uploading the application forms online.

The official claimed that the online transfer will be launched to prevent political interference in transfer of teachers and non-teaching staff and to reduce frequent shunting of teachers, which affects student’s education in the mid-way.

“All teachers, who have completed three years of service, will be entitled to apply for transfer through online,” he stated, adding that all the credentials would be verified and based on their merit, the transfer orders would be generated.

Stating that a separate login ID would be given to the teachers for accessing the portal, the official said, “They (teachers) need to follow a simple three-step method, such as, find the vacancy in the district, fill the details and submit it online and take a printout and hand them over to their respective school management.”

The official added that the government was also mulling to create an online leave application system wherein the teachers could avail specially earned leave through the portal.
