Four Virudhunagar rape case accused detained under Goondas Act

Four men accused in a case concerning sexual harassment of a Dalit woman in Virudhunagar have been detained under Goondas Act on Thursday.

The case is being probed by the Crime Branch-CID. Based on recommendations of the CB-CID, Virudhunagar Collector J Meghanatha Reddy ordered the detention of Hariharan alias Saravanan, Madasamy, Pravin and Junaid Ahmed under Goondas Act, sources said. Eight persons, including four juveniles were arrested by a special team in Virudhunagar on March 21 after such an incident came to light. Virudhunagar Rural police had initially filed the case against the accused under various Sections including 376 of IPC and SC/ST Act, sources said.
