The Vellore-based RDMA (Regional Director of Municipal Administration) on Friday ordered that the delimitation of wards in Pernambut municipality be undertaken again by a special committee after Saturday (February 22).

This follows members of various political parties, cutting across party lines, besieging the municipal office and blocking the Ambur road, demanding action against the officials responsible for the mistakes, according to sources.

“Notices of the result of ward delimitation which were put up for public view revealed largescale discrepancies which angered all the people,” DMK town secretary Zubair Ahamed said.

What enraged the public was that when Gudiyattam TPO (town planning officer) Venketesan, who has additional charge of Pernambut, was told about this, he said bluntly that the public could do whatever they wanted, but he would not budge.
