Defamation charges slapped against M K Stalin

Though the Lok Sabha elections have ended in Tamil Nadu, the election related controversies are still alive. DMK president M K Stalin campaigned for the Thiruvarur assembly candidate Poondy Kalaivaanan and CPI's Nagapattinam Parliamentary candidate Selvarasu, in Thiruvarur on March 20.

Stalin throwed brickbats at CM Edappadi Palaniswamy relating to the Kodanad case. The AIADMK HQ took offense and filed a defamation case against Stalin, claiming it to be a canard.

Babu Murugavel representing the AIADMK, took the matter to Election officer and Deputy collector of Thiruvarur, Murugadas. Prakash of the DMK became answerable for being the one to request the DMK's meeting in Thiruvarur. His answer however, didn't satisfy the Election officer.

As a result, the Thiruvarur town police Anbarasan filed case against Stalin under 171 (1G) for his indignant remarks against the CM.
