CHENNAI: The Minister for Milk and Dairy Development SM Nasar held a review meeting with officials on milk production and sale of special Deepavali sweets ahead of the festival, here on Saturday.

In the meeting, the minister compared the sales data of milk and milk products for July, August and September and directed milk federations with low sales to take appropriate measures to increase numbers.

Furthermore, with Deepavali approaching in a few days, the minister inquired about the preparation work of special sweets and the purchase of necessary equipment and raw materials.

With the Northeast monsoon around the corner, the minister advised the milk production and dairy development department to take precautionary measures during monsoon and arrange for uninterrupted supply of milk and milk by-products at all places in Tamil Nadu and distribute milk immediately through additional vehicles.

Additionally, officials have been asked to inspect milk and milk by-product production centres and sale centres.
