Councillors hold monsoon preparedness meeting

Speaking at the meeting, councillor Ethiraj said, “It is important to keep an eye on water bodies, monitor low-lying areas and river banks, speedy implementation of relief activities and ensure those living near water bodies are evacuated on need basis.”

TIRUVALLUR: A review meeting to discuss the monsoon preparedness of the district was held by the functionaries of Tiruvallur Eekadu Union Council on Wednesday.

In the meeting chaired by Council chief Jayaseeli Jayabalan, the preparedness for the upcoming northeast monsoon and ideas to prevent inundation of various areas in the district were discussed along with the precautionary steps that need to be taken.

Speaking at the meeting, councillor Ethiraj said, “It is important to keep an eye on water bodies, monitor low-lying areas and river banks, speedy implementation of relief activities and ensure those living near water bodies are evacuated on need basis.”

He also thanked Chief Minister MK Stalin for giving permission to clean the Kakkalur Lake and allow boating, opening a new crematorium along with sanctioning the establishment of a new Government Agricultural College.
