Coronavirus cases near 14k in TN, death toll rises to 94

Seven people succumbed to COVID-19 in Tamil Nadu on Thursday while 776 tested positive, taking the infection tally to 13,967, the state health department said.

Chennai continued to see the highest number of infections at 567, taking the total to 8,795.

Seven Covid-19 patients died, taking the toll to 94, it added.

The new infections included people who had come to Tamil Nadu from Maharashtra (76), Chicago (6), Maldives (1), Muscat (1), Kerala (1), Delhi (1) and West Bengal (1).

With 400 discharges during the day, the number of Covid-19 cured people in the state reached 6,282.

According to the government, 12,464 samples have been tested taking to total to over 3.72 lakh till date. 

The number of infected children in the age group 0-12 went up to 856. The total number of active cases in Tamil Nadu stands at 7,588.
