“The Centre should also take immediate steps to save the people from the economic disaster by allocating funds from 5 per cent to 10 per cent of GDP’s value,” Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) president KS Alagiri said.

The Congress leader also urged the Centre to announce loan waiver for MSMEs to resume business, which was badly hit due to the total shutdown. Pointing out that the coronavirus affected cases have already crossed 50,000 mark across the country, he alleged that the Union government could not totally control the spread of COVID-19 cases despite imposing total lockdown.

“In addition, the government did not procure proper testing equipment to detect the virus accurately,” he alleged and said, “due to this, the real picture of pandemic position could not be ascertained.”
