VELLORE: Vellore based CMC hospital’s cardiology unit which was functioning in the Vellore town campus at Thottapalayam will be functioning from its new Rs 1200 crore Ranipet campus from Friday, according to hospital medical superintendent Dr Prasad Mathews. He added that though outpatient and inpatient consultations would be available in the Vellore town campus, the chest pain unit would be closed with primary angioplasty being offered only at the new Ranipet campus at Kannigapuram, 12 km from Vellore. Hence, patients with chest pain or suspected myocardial infarction (heart attack) are advised to report to the Ranipet campus. However emergency services would continue to be offered at the Vellore town campus as before, he stated.
