The last of the five new districts of Tamil Nadu was inaugurated by state Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswamy.

Chengalpattu became Tamil Nadu's 37th district on Friday. The others are Tenkasi, Kallakuruchi, Tirupattur and Ranipettai, which became districts in the past month.

Reports say the new districts were created to help the administration run them efficiently.
