CB-CID raids Mines Dept official’s house in D’puri

A team of CB-CID sleuths arrived at his house at around 8.30 am in two cars to carry out the searches.

COIMBATORE: The CB-CID sleuths raided the house of an official in the Mines Department in Dharmapuri district on Wednesday.

According to sources, Suresh Kumar (45), who is currently serving as Joint Director of Mines Department in Chennai, is facing charges of irregularities in awarding contracts to firms to remove gravel from water bodies during his stint in Salem. He is said to have caused huge losses to the state exchequer.

A team of CB-CID sleuths arrived at his house at around 8.30 am in two cars to carry out the searches. During the raid, which stretched for around five hours, the cops also quizzed his family members.

Sources said that they have seized several documents in the raid, which ended at around 2.30 pm. However, the sleuths remained tight-lipped and refused to divulge any further information.
