CB-CID gets 7-day custody of 4 accused in Virudhunagar rape case

The Special Court for SC /ST (POA) Act, Srivilliputhur, on Tuesday granted seven days of custody of the four accused to the Crime Branch CID, which is probing the sexual harassment case reported in Virudhunagar last week.

Earlier, the accused were produced in the Special Court amidst tight security. SP J Mutharasi on Monday filed a petition before the court seeking seven days of custody of the accused.

Sessions Judge BC Gopinath after hearing, granted the custody until April 4.

The CB-CID team, which launched the investigation a few days ago, started inquiries into allegations of sexual abuse concerning the victim.
