Cash awards given for academic excellence

The District Collector K Rajamani distributed cash awards to the students, teachers and the headmasters of Adi Dravidar Schools which have had a pass percentage of 100 per cent the previous academic year (2016-17) here on Monday.

According to education department, 1327 students from the AD Welfare schools appeared for their higher secondary board examinations and 1208 students passed among them in 2016-17. The government has been distributing incentives to the teachers and students who have excelled in their own fields.

As many as 30 AD Welfare schools had more than 95 per cent pass percentage in language and other special subjects.

On Monday, the district collector called on all students, teachers and headmasters and felicitated them. He also felicitated the schools where all the students have passed their board examinations. He distributed cash prizes worth Rs 9.9 lakhs to them.
