TIRUCHY: Tiruchy police registered a woman harrassment case against the farmer leader P Ayyakannu on Saturday.

It is said, while the farmers grievance meeting was on in Tiruchy Collectorate on Friday, Ayyakannu, the state president of Desiya Thennidiya Nadhigal Inaippu Sangam was putting forth his grievances to the Collector M Pradeep Kumar, P Gowsalya (55), District president (Women’s wing) of Tamil Nadu Vivasaigal Sangam attempted to interfere.

Ayyakannu was not giving chance to Gowsalya despite the farmers voiced in favour of her. The irate Gowsalya continued to interfere him. Soon, Ayyakannu ran towards her and used filthy words and tried to assault her. However, the other farmers pacified the duo

Meanwhile, Gowsalya lodged a complaint with the Cantonment police.

Based on her complaint, police registered a case against Ayyakannu under various sections including woman harrassment case.
