While the Opposition parties across the country as expected criticised the promises on BJP’s poll manifesto, the AIADMK, one of its major allies, also joined the chorus.

When asked about the BJP not accommodating AIADMK’s poll promises in its manifesto, even as the Congress incorporated key demands of the DMK in theirs, AIADMK Rajya Sabha member V Maitreyan said the BJP’s act would reflect in the election results. He pointed out that the Congress accepting the demands of its ally, the DMK, showed its inclusive politics.

The DMK’s promises found a place in the Congress’s manifesto. The Congress has promised to dispense with NEET and substitute it with a state-level examination and promised to transfer school education to the state list.

The DMK and Congress were on the same page on a few other issues such as the separate budget for agriculture, waiver of all farm and education loans and creation of a separate ministry for fisheries.
