Enraged over a former BJP councillor uploading scurrilous material about VCK leader Thirumavalavan, the latter party cadres besieged Ambur town police station and refused to leave till action was taken against the BJP member, on Saturday.

It all started when VCK cadres found virulent comments about Thirumavalavan in the Facebook page of former Ambur BJP Councillor Shanmugam who identified himself ‘kutti’ Shanmugam on Facebook. The rant was obviously against Thirumavalavan for his comments denigrating women. Enraged at this, nearly 50 VCK cadres gathered in front of the police station and demanded that Shanmugam be arrested. The police demurred as the BJP was an alliance partner with the ruling AIADMK and hence they did not want to get on the wrong side of the ruling party.

Sitting in front of the police station, VCK cadres raised slogans against the BJP, Shanmugam and Modi. Finally, after police assured them that action would be taken the cadres left after staying put for nearly two hours. This was soon followed by a team of 10 local BJP functionaries who then trooped to the police station to request the cops against any intemperate action.
