Bizman released after wife pays Rs 1 cr ransom

A businessman was held hostage by a five members of a gang in Thoraipakkam and released allegedly after receiving Rs 1 crore from his family.

The businessman Mohammed Tharique of Korattur, who is into real estate business, allegedly received Rs 1.5 crore from two men — Ramakrishnan and Durairaj — on the promise of registering a 110-acre poromboke land near Sembarambakkam.


Since he had been delaying to fulfill his promise, the duo allegedly threatened him after which Tharique brought five bodyguards to protect him. Recently, while they were staying in Thoraipakkam, the gang invited Tharique and when he went there, they allegedly attacked and bound him. The men then demanded Rs 1 crore from Tharique’s wife and let him off after they received the money. Later, based on Tharique’s complaint, the Thoraipakkam police registered a case.
